Leaving Home

Leaving home is not a single act. It happens in stages—some visible, some internal.

This journey starts here. Not with arrival, but with departure. With the decision to step beyond what is familiar and to carry only what is necessary.

It begins long before the bags are packed, in the quiet recognition that the place you are standing can no longer hold the version of you that wants to move.

Sometimes you leave a place. Sometimes you leave a version of yourself. Either way, something inside you begins to travel before your body does.

What I’m learning is this: the path doesn’t ask for certainty. It asks for willingness. It asks for the smallest honest step forward—and then another.

For now, this is the first stamp. A beginning. The shoreline still visible behind us, but already receding.

Everything else will reveal itself along the way.
